-Romney beats Santorum by 8 votes in Iowa:
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney eked out a narrow victory over former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in the Iowa caucuses Tuesday, winning the first contest for the Republican presidential nomination, the Hawkeye state's Republican party chairman Matt Strawn said early Wednesday morning after a long night with the two candidates in a dead heat.
- Ginrich keeps aim on Romney:  DES MOINES, Iowa - Newt Gingrich blamed a poor showing in the Iowa caucuses on his rivals' attack ads and seemed to conclude that turnabout is fair play as he pressed on with a new aggressive stance against front-runner Mitt Romney, who won the first Republican presidential contest by a narrow 8-vote margin over Rick Santorum.
-Evangelicas go fo Sanctorum: In Iowa, as evangelicals go, so goes the Republican presidential caucus. Regularly comprising more than half of caucus goers, they have the capability of ensuring a victory for any of the competing candidates. In 2008, they strongly supported Mike Huckabee over Mitt Romney 46 to 19 percent, propelling him to an unexpected victory. Tuesday night, a smaller but still sizable proportion of evangelicals - 32 percent - united behind Rick Santorum, pushing him to the forefront of the contest.
